Ultrasound & Sonography

Ultrasound and sonography in Houston, TX: abdominal, pelvic and pregnancy. In Spanish, with affordable pricing.

At Clínica Hispana Familiar 529 abdominal, pelvic, pregnancy and thyroid ultrasounds are performed in the clinic, with no radiation and no pain, with results explained in Spanish. No appointment and no insurance needed, in northwest Houston.

Which types of ultrasound are performed?

  • Abdominal: liver, gallbladder and gallstones, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and aorta
  • Pelvic: uterus, ovaries, cysts, fibroids and causes of pain or bleeding
  • Pregnancy: confirmation, heartbeat, number of babies, due date and follow-up
  • Thyroid: gland size and nodules
  • Soft tissue: lumps, cysts and lipomas before minor surgery
  • Kidney and bladder: stones, urine retention and prostate evaluation

How do I prepare for each type of study?

  1. 1Abdominal: fast for 6 to 8 hours so the gallbladder is full and there is no gas; water is fine.
  2. 2Pelvic and early pregnancy: full bladder; drink 3 to 4 glasses of water one hour before and do not urinate.
  3. 3Kidney and bladder: full bladder, same as pelvic.
  4. 4Thyroid and soft tissue: no preparation.
  5. 5Pregnancy after week 12: a full bladder is not required.

What is the study like, step by step?

  1. 1You lie down and warm gel is applied to the skin over the area to be examined.
  2. 2The transducer glides over the skin; it may press a little but does not hurt.
  3. 3Images and measurements are taken; the study lasts 15 to 30 minutes.
  4. 4The medical team reviews the images and explains the findings in Spanish.

Is ultrasound safe?
